Welcome to my world…

Many people have asked me why I decided to write a book about my experiences in the Mormon church. The answer is quite simple: I did it for my children.
The book started out as a journal to my children. I knew someday they would come to me and ask why I left the church and why I left their father. I decided the best way to say it exactly how I wanted it said, was to write it down. When I started writing, I had just uprooted our lives by moving (rather…running) from Portland, OR to Phoenix, AZ and I had gone from being a stay-at-home mom to a single mother who was working and going to school. I had changed not only my entire existence, but theirs as well and they deserved truthful, straightforward answers. I’m much better with writing than speaking. I wanted to be able to answer their questions. I also hoped that Baby #1 (explained in the book) would find me and I would be able to give him a look inside his mother’s life growing up and why I made the decisions that changed his life.
And so I began writing…and writing…and writing. One day, my husband (boyfriend at the time), asked me why I didn’t write a book about everything I had gone through. He knew many former Mormon’s who were struggling with some of the same issues that I had and my book might possible let them know that they are not alone in the world.
Hence, “Confessions of a Recovering Mormon” was born.
The book will be released on November 30, 2009. You can pre-order the book by visiting www.sterlinghousepublisher.com.
